Children's Ballet Classes

At Russian Ballet Academy, we focus on building solid classical ballet foundations for children aged 4 and above. Our structured curriculum is rooted in the methodology of Vaganova, internationally recognised for developing strength, precision, and strong technique in young dancers.

Located in Tai Seng, our academy provides a nurturing and focused environment with small class sizes, where we take time for each child to master their fundamentals. In addition to regular classes, students have opportunities to participate in performances, examinations, and international ballet competitions, enriching their training and stage experience.

Group Classes for Children

Ages 6-8

In Level 1 ballet, your child will build a strong foundation by learning essentials like turnout, alignment, and basic ballet terminology, while developing strength and flexibility. Our experienced instructors are dedicated to nurturing each dancer’s confidence and passion, ensuring they grow safely and are well-prepared for future levels.

Prerequisites

Experience: Dancers with up to one year of prior ballet experience are welcome. Placement is also based on individual ability as determined during the assessment process.

Ages 8-10

In Level 2 ballet, your child will continue to strengthen their foundation while expanding their knowledge of ballet terminology and technique. As they progress, they’ll take on more complex combinations and faster tempos, building the skills and confidence needed for more advanced training.

Prerequisites

Experience: Students should be comfortable with basic ballet terminology and movements at the barre, center, and during jumps, with at least 2 years of consistent practice. Placement is also based on individual ability as determined during the assessment process.

Ages 10-12

In Level 3, students focus on developing stability and balance through key elements such as demi-pointe, pre-pointe, pirouettes, and en tournant. The curriculum also introduces beginning pointe work for girls. This level serves as a crucial step in preparing dancers for more advanced training, including pre-professional levels.

Prerequisites

Experience: Students should have a strong foundation in barre, center, and jumps, supported by at least 3 years of consistent ballet training. Placement is also based on individual ability as determined during the assessment process.

Ages 12 and up

At this stage, dancers begin learning classical variations on pointe, while male dancers are introduced to both group and soloist variations. This training deepens their technical skills and prepares them for more advanced performance opportunities.

Prerequisites

Experience: At least 4 years of consistent ballet training, with a minimum of one year of pointe experience for girls. Placement is also based on individual ability as determined during the assessment process.

Ages 4-5

Our Pre-Ballet classes are designed to help your child develop coordination, strength, flexibility, and motor skills in a fun and small class environment. Our goal is to ensure your child is confidently prepared to begin formal ballet training by the end of the Pre-Ballet programme.

Prerequisites

Experience: Children who have little to no ballet experience are welcome to join. Placement is also based on individual ability as determined during the assessment process.

Exam Sessions with International Guest Teachers

We hold annual or biennial exams (varies by level) featuring esteemed international guest teachers. These exams provide our students with world-class feedback, global standards aligned with their training level, and performance milestones to track their accomplishments.

Performances

We stage biennial performances to give every student meaningful opportunities to develop as artists. We believe that each child's participation marks an important milestone in their dance education and personal growth.

International Ballet Masterclasses

Elevate your child's training with masterclasses led by world-class dancers, where they get to gain professional insight that can inspire their ballet journey. Past guest teachers include Vaganova Ballet Academy graduates and professional principal dancers.
