Curriculum summary
Technique
Demi-pointe, pre-pointe, pirouettes and en tournant are a key component in the Level 3 curriculum, with a focus on stability and balance. In Level 3, dancers will do a class comprising of a full range of barre work, center exercises including adagio and allegro, and pointe work. This stage prepares dancers for more advanced levels of training, including at a pre-professional level, where they will further hone their skills and performance capabilities.
Gymnastics and conditioning
Russian ballet training often includes floor exercises that focus on developing core strength and flexibility. These exercises include various types of stretches and strength-building drills that help dancers achieve the high level of physical fitness required for ballet.
Exams
Each year, we partner with Russian ballet schools to have our students assessed by a guest examiner. Students will receive certificates with personal feedback and also get a chance to take masterclasses with the guest teachers. Past notable examiners include Natalia Kremen, Vladimir Issaev, Evgeny Serdeshov and more
Pointe
All movements on pointe are first learned at the barre, before gradually progressing into the center. Before beginning pointe work, students must demonstrate a high level of strength, flexibility, and proper alignment. Typically, students start pointe training around ages 11 to 12, depending on their physical development and readiness.
Performance opportunities
Achieving milestones in ballet, such as performing in front of an audience, can ignite a child's love for dance and the arts. We encourage our students to participate in our class presentations, showcases and recitals, where they will experience the joy of performance.
