Curriculum summary

Foundational ballet technique

In Level 1 ballet, students focus on mastering proper posture and placement of the head, arms and legs. Basic terminology (e.g., plié, tendu, dégagé, battement) is introduced at the barre, center, and in jumps. Port de bras, musicality, and coordination. These foundational skills help develop their physique and sets the stage for future progress in ballet.

Gymnastics and conditioning

Russian ballet training often includes floor exercises that focus on developing core strength and flexibility. These exercises include various types of stretches and strength-building drills that help dancers achieve the high level of physical fitness required for ballet.

Exams

Each year, we partner with Russian ballet schools to have our students assessed by a guest examiner. Students will receive certificates with personal feedback and also get a chance to take masterclasses with the guest teachers. Past notable examiners include Natalia Kremen, Vladimir Issaev, Evgeny Serdeshov and more

Ballet choreography

Classical ballet often features various dance forms and styles such as the polonaise, waltzes, mazurkas and more. Students will learn simple choreography and sequences that will help enhance their dancing quality and artistry.

Performance opportunities

Achieving milestones in ballet, such as performing in front of an audience, can ignite a child's love for dance and the arts. We encourage our students to participate in our class presentations, showcases and recitals, where they will experience the joy of performance.

At first I hated ballet, but because of you, I love ballet. My ballet was so bad, but you made it better. Thank you for teaching me!
